"Try Again"

“What I was isn’t what I am, I’d change back but I don’t know if I can”
Try AgainKeane

Something I read is still resonating in my skull. Put simply:
“Empty your head. Empty it of all the ideas, stories, jokes, philosophies, and inventions. Put it on paper and share it. We are on this planet for such a short time; don’t hog the magic by dying with it all in your head. Make life extraordinary.”
- Rob Schrab

I need to sketch more.

Distance

The Hanks have released their new CD, “Distance.” It’s a great introspective body of work. It’s the kind of music you can just chill out and listen to over and over. As I listened to the CD (for the tenth time today), I was going through old NOPAL news and came across some interesting writing from a few years ago. I hadn’t realized that it’s actually been more than 2 years since (for better or worse) I decided to mentally wall off the rest of the world. Sometimes you go down a path and as uncomfortable as it seems at the time, it eventually becomes normal. And sometimes, it’s just better that way. I can still find solace in music though.

I spent the evening having a mega-flashback session watching Oingo Boingo music videos. They reminded me of a time when things were simpler and I actually went to concerts. Their annual Halloween shows were amazing. I still remember the first one – my brother bought me the ticket. It was more than 20 years ago. Damn. Check ‘em for yourself below.

The Wire is down to it’s last episode. Next week, episode 60 will end the critically acclaimed series. It’s been a great ride and will be missed. HBO knows how to produce some damn good television. And speaking of good TV, I have to give props to my new obsession, The First 48. Based on the theory that most crimes get their big breaks in the first 48 hours of an investigation, this show follows real-life police as they track down murderers. Not as flashy as CSI but just as riveting.
